I'm Elise Luddy, and I built this because I needed it
I play flute in a community wind band, and I run it. In practice that means I am the person holding the roster spreadsheet, the dues spreadsheet, the attendance sheet somebody keeps in a notebook, and the shared inbox where all of it eventually lands.
Rehearsal Letter is the system I went looking for and could not buy. What existed was built for a chorus with paid staff, or it was a membership database that could hold a list of names but had never heard of a section, a folder number or a dues year. Nothing knew what a librarian does. Nothing could print a concert program. So I built it, starting with the parts I was tired of doing by hand.
The name comes from the one thing every rehearsal has in common. Someone says take it from letter C, and forty people find the same place at the same time. That is the whole idea — one set of records the whole ensemble can find.
What I did before this
Most of my working life has been in events
I own The Aisle Collection, a small house of event brands in Ann Arbor, Michigan — The Gala Co. for corporate and nonprofit work, The Aisle Agency for weddings. Before that I planned events in-house for nonprofits, a university and an arts festival: donor evenings and awards nights, conferences and lecture series, and a summer season of performances that ran on volunteers.
That work is not a detour from this one. A fundraiser and a concert season are run the same way: volunteers, a board, a budget that has to reconcile, a date that does not move, and a hundred small facts that live in one person's head until the week they don't. I have spent years building the checklists and the systems that keep those facts somewhere everyone can reach. Rehearsal Letter is that habit, pointed at a band room.
I'm on the board too
I am the president of a community wind symphony. Every decision in this product was made by someone who has to live with it at the next meeting, in front of a treasurer and a librarian who will say so if it's wrong.
I've run the events
Rooms of several hundred, budgets that had to reconcile to the dollar, and a run-of-show a dozen people worked from at once. A concert is an event, and events reward the board that wrote things down. That is most of what this software does.

I'm not going to sell you a feature I wouldn't want to maintain for my own band.
